NAWIC AWARDS
The National Association of Women in Construction held the 13th annual Excellence Awards Night in August. This event highlights the women and organizations that advance the role of women in the construction industry. We would like to commend Johnstaff Projects’ Project Managers Kristin Lynch (NAWIC President) and Libby Gordon (NAWIC Treasurer) for their efforts in organising such a successful night and make a particular mention of Johnstaff Projects’ Project Engineer, Alex Belcastro who took home the award for “Outstanding Achievement by a Student.” Congratulations Alex!
NEW PROJECTS
AUSTRALIAN RED CROSS BLOOD SERVICE – VTPS (MELBOURNE) - $120M
We have much pleasure in announcing the opportunity to continue our relationship with ARCBS to provide development management and advisory services with the Procurement Strategy, Revised Business Case submission, RFP Process for Landlord / Developer and Site Identification for the proposed Victoria/Tasmania Principal Site.
The design and construction of the new proposed VTPS facility has to comply with very stringent regulations required by various regulatory bodies. It will accommodate:
- laboratories for testing blood and blood products, tissue typing and research (PC2)
- blood processing
- inventory and distribution
- central supplies warehouse
- site specific medical services, quality, HR, finance, library, canteen and staff amenities
THREE NEW PROJECTS FOR HEALTHSCOPE LTD
Johnstaff Projects are delighted to have been appointed Project Manager on the following Healthscope projects:
- Victorian Rehabilitation Centre - 30 bed expansion project
In addition to the existing facility at Victorian Rehabilitation Centre in Glen Waverly involving the construction of a new single story 30-bed facility adjoining the existing complex including additional carparking and associated works with an estimated total project cost of approx $8m.
- Bellbird Private Hospital
The construction of a new consulting suites complex situated beneath the former undercroft area occupied by onsite carparking and the construction of ancillary and additional carparking on land adjacent to the existing facility formally occupied by several cottages. Total value of the project is approx. $2M.
- The Melbourne Clinic
The expansion of the existing facility situated at 130 Church St Richmond involving the construction of a new multi-level carpark at the rear of the property which is currently occupied by an on-road carpark together with the construction of 8 new individually strated consulting suites and the construction of 48 new wards over 2 levels on top of the new carpark structure. Total cost of the project will be in the vicinity of $18M.
NORTHERN HEALTH PROJECTS
Following the company’s engagement as Project Manager for the Northern Hospital Redevelopment comprising Short Stay Unit and Mental Health, we have recently received further management roles for the following works:
- Project Management of the Master Plan, Feasibility and Business Case Submissions for the Administration & Research Project ($47m)
- Project Management of the relocation of Northern Health’s corporate offices onto the site at Epping ($3m)
- Project Management of the new Maternity Ward ($3m)
- Business Case preparation for the Acute and Ambulatory Care Expansion ($47.4m)
THE ROYAL MELBOURNE HOSPITAL REDEVELOPMENT
We have recently been engaged to undertake the Master Plan and Feasibility Study phases of the Redevelopment of RMH's City and Royal Park campuses. Given our involvement at RMH over the last 10 years, we are thrilled to extend our relationship with DHS and Melbourne Health for this extremely important and exciting project.
OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN CANCER & WELLNESS CENTRE
Johnstaff Projects is delighted to have also been appointed Project Manager for the design and development of the new ONJCWC, which will combine cancer treatment services with patient wellness in a state of the art, environmentally friendly building. The project, likely to be delivered in two stages, includes the delivery of a Wellness Centre, Radiotherapy Facility comprising four bunkers, Day Oncology and Ambulatory Care services, Clinical Trials and two 32-bed inpatient units for Oncology and Haematology. Ultimate project cost $140m.
ISPT – 500 BOURKE ST
Johnstaff Projects has recently been engaged by ISPT to act as Superintendent of the Design & Construction Contract between ISPT and Bovis Lend Lease including to act as ISPT’s Landlord Representative at 500 Bourke Street. The project consists of base building refurbishment of the tower, upgrade of engineering plant, refurbishment of the ground floor foyer and the creation of a retail plaza space to the rear of the building fronting Little Bourke St. The project is due for completion in December 2009. Project value $70m.

Pieter Van Rensburg
We are delighted to welcome Project Director, Pieter van Rensburg, to Johnstaff Projects. Pieter joined the Company in July 2008 after 7 years at Coffey Projects. His passion for construction and project management has taken him around the globe and provided him with a unique range of skills spanning varied assignments in health, commercial, retail, industrial, civil, entertainment and leisure. |

Samantha Beveridge
Samantha joined Johnstaff Projects Pty Ltd in July 2008 as a Project Engineer. Prior to joining Johnstaff, Sam worked as an Open Space Planner for @leisure, a Recreation and Leisure Planning Consultancy. Samantha is a highly motivated individual who brings to the organisation excellent communication, a total commitment to client satisfaction and maximum value for money outcomes on all projects managed. |

Alex Belcastro
3rd-year Planning & Design student, Alex Belcastro, joined Johnstaff Projects Pty Ltd in March 2008. As part of her studies, Alex completed a summer cadetship program with Multiplex Constructions Pty Ltd. She worked on site at 550 Bourke and 181 William Sts, a $330 million development comprising two commercial office towers. Alex is a highly driven and astute individual who brings excellent interpersonal and communicative skills to our team and clients. |

Anthony Crevatin
We welcome Project Director, Anthony Crevatin, who joined the Johnstaff Projects’ team in September 2008. Prior to joining Johnstaff Projects, Anthony was a Project Director at Coffey Projects for five years where he oversaw a spectrum of projects for a wide range of clients. Anthony is a key player and a repository when it comes to team-planning and leadership of major projects. A planning and organisational professional, he adopts a structured approach in everything he does and is well-versed in the management and co-ordination of teams working across complex scenarios. |

Arun Yuvarajah
Arun joined Johnstaff Projects Pty Ltd in April 2008 whilst completing his Bachelor’s degree in Planning and Design (Property and Construction) at Melbourne University. Arun joins the company with a keen interest in construction site management, cost planning and contract law. While completing his studies, Arun will be supporting our teams on the Maroondah Hospital Expansion and the Caulfield General Medical Centre projects. |

Mark Anderson
Having worked closely with Johnstaff Projects in the delivery of the Essendon Fields Auto Alley project, Mark joined the company in September 2008 as a Project Manager.
