Birth of Johnstaff Projects
Following the recent departure of Michael Higgs, who has elected to provide strategic consulting services to the construction and health industry, we have taken the opportunity to rebrand the organisation – now known as Johnstaff Projects. We feel the new name more clearly represents the services we provide across all facets of capital developments.
We are grateful to Michael for his valued service and contributions in growing our organisation over the last 18 months.

NEW PROJECTS
Mater Medical Centre, Sydney, NSW
Following the opening of our NSW office, we are delighted to announce that we have been appointed as Project Manager for the development of a new Medical Centre at the Mater Medical Centre in Sydney, valued at approximately $20 million.
BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA), Queensland
Following the recent successful completion of the Poitrel Coal Mine and Saraji Mine Creek Diversions in Central Queensland, we are pleased to have had our role with BMA extended to include several other projects in the area. We will continue to provide Superintendent and Design Management services for BMA for at least the next 12 months.
NAB Major Residential Development, Queensland
We are delighted to have been appointed Superintendent to assist NAB in the development of a major residential subdivision in central Queensland.
World Health Organisation Influenza Facility
We have been appointed as Project and Construction Manager for the Victorian Infectious Disease Reference Laboratory’s WHO Influenza Facility at their Parkville premises.
St John of God Private Hospital, Geelong, Victoria
Having established a successful working relationship with St John of God during the redevelopment of their hospital in Ballarat, we are delighted to have been appointed Project Manager for the development of a $15 million day procedure, specialist consulting and pathology collection facility at their campus in Geelong.
Since our last update we have also successfully managed completion of the following projects:
- MBAV Head Office Fitout, Melbourne, Victoria ($7m)
- Alinta Office Fitout, Burwood, Victoria (Project and Construction Manager)
- National Institute of Circus Arts Training & Performance Centre, Swinburne University Prahran, Victoria ($10m)
Other significant appointments include:
- Western Health Strategic Capital Redevelopment, Victoria ($1.0+billion)
- St John of God Private Hospital, Ballarat, Victoria ($60m)
NEW STAFF
We are delighted to welcome the following new staff to our organisation:
Tom Kirkland – Tom has recently commenced working with Johnstaff Projects as Project Director on major health projects across Australia. Tom brings extensive experience in the health industry from both an operational and development perspective.
Melinda Spargo – As a graduate Architect, Melinda has been invaluable in the planning of the relocation of the Royal Women’s Hospital to its new home at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Bryan O’Donnell, Greg O’Donnell and Graham Stacey have been invaluable in assisting our company’s success in Queensland over the last 12 months through their excellent services on the BMA projects mentioned above.
We are also delighted to announce the recent appointment of Rhonda Todaro as National Business Manager. Rhonda’s extensive business management experience will ensure our continued growth across Australia is in a controlled manner and that a high level of service delivery to our valued clients is maintained.
