NEW PROJECTS
Epworth Richmond Redevelopment
We are delighted to have been appointed Project Manager of this major redevelopment project estimated to cost around $350m, which proposes a substantial expansion and upgrade of existing facilities to deliver significant community benefits through expanded and improved hospital and medical services, including:
- Improved inpatient care and infection control through the provision of 430 new single, en-suite inpatient rooms;
- New specialist operating suites, wards and specialist units to meet current Department of Human Services’ standards; and
- Expansion of the Emergency Department, medical services and improved training facilities through the construction of new auditoriums.
Monash University New Horizons
We are equally proud to announce our role as the successful Project Manager for the construction of a new, world-class research and training facility at Monash University, Clayton Campus. The New Horizons project is a vital component of Monash University’s vision to develop a Clayton Innovation Precinct as the most significant technology innovation hub in the southern hemisphere.
Centrally located within Victoria’s primary manufacturing region, the aim is for New Horizons to provide a “platform for future manufacturing by scaling up skills and infrastructure in science and engineering.” As part of this effort, New Horizons will house a range of sophisticated processing techniques for producing the next generation of renewable energy technologies, contain a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment to support the highest quality research, and research training and collaboration. The facility will also provide new PC2 laboratories, a 10,000 clean room and house approximately $16m worth of new research equipment.
ICL INITIATIVE
ICL is a specialist consortium formed to offer leading design and construction solutions for complex laboratory projects. ICL comprises key staff from the following organisations:
- Johnstaff Projects – specialists in Project Management, Construction Management, Cost Management, Project Programming and Risk Management.
- Bio2ic – specialists in Client Planning, regulatory and standards compliance, Client Training, Quality Assurance and Validation.
- Zektin Group – specialising in Design Management, building Services, Process Engineering, Engineering, Architecture, Ecologically Sustainable Design and Passivation.
- ICL’s experience bank includes: Royal Melbourne Hospital ($200m), Murdoch Childrens Research Institute ($20), AKRUTI Biotech Multi Tenant Wet Laboratories Facility in India ($30m), Sigma Pharmaceuticals Liquid Manufacturing Facility ($60m), Hanseo Pharm Solid Dose Manufacturing Facility ($30m) and the VIDRL WHO Flu Centre ($13m).

Ian Gibson
Ian joined our company in April 2009 and brings to the organisation a wealth of expertise managing major health projects. Over his 20-year career, Ian held numerous leadership positions at a range of tier 1- organisations including Bovis Lend Lease Consulting where he was employed to develop BLL’s project management consulting arm of the business. Ian’s notable professional career saw him work for Sinclair Knight Merz, Burns Bridge Australia and as a company Director at Atkinson Project Management for seven years.

Jamie Gaylard
Project Engineer, Jamie Gaylard joined our company in April 2009. Prior to joining Johnstaff Projects, Jamie was contracted to the University of Melbourne as a Design Coordinator on a $15,000 refurbishment project, whilst completing a double degree in Architecture and Construction Management. Jamie’s professional experience also includes a two-year stint on-site during the construction of the Deakin University International Centre and Business Building at Burwood Campus. Jamie is a highly motivated individual who likes to aim high and works extremely hard to get the work done efficiently and to the highest of standards.

Natasha Ugrinoski
4th-year Planning & Design student at the University of Melbourne, Natasha Ugrinoski, joined the company in March 2009. As part of her training, Natasha worked as a Contract Administrator at Qanstruct prior to joining Johnstaff to further her professional development. Natasha’s proven abilities and thoughtful, hardworking nature have proven most valuable on her assignments to date. .

Matt Clements
We welcome Project Engineer, Matt Clements, who joined our team in July 2009. Having recently graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Property and Construction as well as a Bachelor of Architecture, Matt brings to Johnstaff Projects excellent design and construction knowledge. Matt‘s academic achievements are further enhanced by years of hands-on construction experience at Multiplex Constructions in various capacities.
